Bahrain EN 50332 Testing Solution

EN 50332 is the EU standard for hearing protection safety of portable audio devices with accompanying headphones, which limits the maximum sound pressure of headphones entering the ear to prevent irreversible hearing damage caused by long-term high volume. Earphones exported to the EU for TWS headphones, headsets, and mobile phone players must meet this standard and comply with the relevant acoustic safety provisions of GB 4943.1-2022 in China. EN 50332 consists of two parts: ① EN50332-1: General method for kit equipment (including player and headphones), maximum sound pressure level of kit ≤ 100dB (A) ② EN 50332-2: Earphones and players tested separately, with the maximum output voltage of the player ≤ 150mV; broadband characteristic voltage of the headphones ≥ 75mV

Product Description

Project Overview

(1) EN 50332-1 Maximum Sound Pressure Level Test for Whole Machine Integration
Turn off the player and headphone noise reduction system, adjust the player volume to maximum output, wear the headphones on HATS, play EN 50332-1 standard signal, and measure the A-weighted average sound pressure level LAeq value received by HATS within 30 seconds.

(2) EN 50332-2 Player Analog Interface Output Voltage Test
Connect the output terminal of the player to a 32 Ω load resistor, turn off the noise reduction system of the player, adjust the volume to maximum, play the EN50332-1 signal, and measure the unweighted RMS voltage on the load resistor for 30 seconds on average.

(3) EN 50332-2- Maximum Signal Test for Player Digital Interface
Turn off the noise reduction system of the player, adjust the volume to maximum, play EN 50332-1 (-10dBFS) standard signal, and measure the average signal amplitude on the digital output interface for 30 seconds.

(4) EN 50332-2 Analog Wire Control Earphones SPCV Test
The audio analyzer simulates the output of EN 50332-1 signal and outputs it to the headphones through the headphone amplifier; Wear the headphones on HATS and adjust the amplitude of the analyzer output signal to achieve a sound pressure of 94dB (A) measured by HATS. Then measure the average voltage loaded on both ends of the headphones for 30 seconds.

(5) EN 50332-2 Maximum Sound Pressure Level Test for Digital Earphones
The audio analyzer outputs EN 50332-1 signal to the headphones through a digital interface. The headphones are correctly worn on the HATS and the A-weighted average sound pressure level LAeq value received by the HATS within 30 seconds is measured.
TWS earphones use an audio analyzer Bluetooth output interface; 2.4G or Type-C earphones with ASIO output interface
